Quickly Rename Reference Dimensions in Sketches

A simple Inventor sketching tip for my first blog post! Do you use reference dimensions in 2D or 3D sketches? Do you ever need to rename them to something more memorable than d12 (apologies to Eminem fans)? If so – like me – after placing the reference dimension you may have been heading to the parameters dialogue box, minimising the Model Parameters, scrolling down to the Reference Parameters, and renaming it here.

I can’t rename!

Well, I wish I could say there was a single click way to do this. But alas. The best way I could find was to place the dimension, then right click on it and choose Dimension Properties.Capture2

Then rename.

Saves a couple of clicks. I’m going to use this quite a lot myself, until Autodesk put a faster way of doing it in there…
